Comal County Court at Law No. 1

Comal County Court at Law #1 has criminal and civil jurisdiction. Specifically, the court has original jurisdiction of all Class A and B Misdemeanors. These include offenses such as DWI’s, Assaults, Drug Possession, Thefts, Fraud, Trespass, and many others. The civil jurisdiction of the court includes family law, probates, juvenile-related offenses, and lawsuits with amounts in controversy up to $250,000.

Furthermore, the Court, sitting as a magistrate, has authority to issue arrest and search warrants, along with setting bail. The Court also hears appeals on criminal cases arising out of justice or municipal courts.

 

The County Court at Law courtrooms and offices are located on the first floor of the Comal County Landa Annex building in downtown New Braunfels.

The courtroom is generally open from 8:30 to 12:00 and 1:30 to 5:00. All hearings are open to the public.
